Protective Glazing
500 Series Frame

A low cost, light weight aluminum framing system suitable for average
single glaze applications. Commonly used for protective glazing installations.



Additional frame configurations are available to meet any job condition. Classic Glass, Ltd. will supply, layout and install the frame system necessary to meet even the most demanding job condition.
GENERAL: Aluminum frames shall be manufactured by Custom Aluminum Frame Fabrication. Aluminum frames shall be identified at CAFF Series 500 (1" depth) for protective glazing, Series 2000 (2 1/2" and 4" depth) for double glazing interior and exterior. Series 3000 (2" and 4" depth) for single glazing with various size beads for glass up to1" and Series 3250 (3 1/4" and 6" depth) thermal brake set up for triple glazing.

CONSTRUCTION: All aluminum sections shall be of extruded aluminum alloy 6063T-5 and especially designed for their special purpose. All sections shall be a minimum thickness of 1/8" to 3/8" maximum with configurations for receiving snap-on glazing beads. All welding shall be the Heliarc method and shall be concealed. All corners shall be mitered and welded, all other joinery shall be mortised and welded.

VENTILATOR: Ventilators are available in either project in or out action. Projected windows operate on Anderberg hinges with concealed hold opens. All ventilators are double weather stripped with nylon pile secured in extruded dove tail grooves in the section.

GLAZING BEADS: Glazing beads are available to meet the designed use of the series specified. Series 3000 is designed to receive glazing beads for 1/4", 5/8" and 1" glazing with a cavity for propylene dry glazing of the lite.

HARDWARE: White bronze hardware manufactured by Bronze Craft Corporation of Nashua, New Hampshire, shall be used. Spring loaded latches with pole ring and concealed and exposed cam latches are available on projected windows. All screws and fasteners used in the assembly of the unit shall be of stainless steel.

FINISH: All frames and vents are available in the following finishes:

  • Dark Bronze Anodized
  • Clear Aluminium Anodized
  • Medium Bronze Baked Enamel
  • Bright White Baked Enamel
